PS: Turns out there’s an entire site called education freeware – will explore sometime, but of course with some reservation as I don’t want to make my son a comp geek 😉
PPS: Gowri recommended another really excellent free software suite known as GCompris. Its available on Ubuntu (and other OS like Mac), and a more limited version on Windows as well.

Well past midnight – no sign of sleeping. He had hardly slept at noon. Didn’t have much dinner, so now he suddenly realised that to carry around his Amma he needed to grow stronger and so needed something to eat!

cover the slate with a paper and draw on the paper. Its a magnetic pen, nothing is seen on the paper.
Voila! He removes the paper to reveal the underneath drawing!
